David received his CA in 1972, having previously obtained his Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Saskatchewan in 1967. He has overseen audits for small and large organizations from virtually all industries, and can provide clients with significant experience in the areas of assurance, financial reporting standards, and performance measurement. Dave served as a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta Practice Review Committee and as Treasurer of Crime Stoppers, Edmonton. He enjoys golf, curling, and running marathons, and is married with children and grandchildren.

John D. Heinrichs, CA

John attended the University of Saskatchewan, receiving his Bachelor of Commerce in 1972. He articled in Toronto and received his CA in 1974. John has an extensive background in corporate and personal tax laws and regulations, and provides value to clients facing challenges in the areas of taxation, estate planning, and business reorganization. He has served on the Tax Committee of the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce. John is married with three daughters, and enjoys golfing and curling.

Ward Thompson, CA

Ward received his Bachelor of Commerce in 1985 from the University of Alberta. He received his CA in 1989 and joined Kouri Berezan Heinrichs in 1990. He was admitted to partnership in 1994. Ward has significant experience working with small business and farm clients in the areas of financing and business consulting. He also possesses in-depth knowledge on issues related to the GST and research & development provisions of the Income Tax Act. Ward is married with two children, is an avid fisherman and hunter, and has been involved with Ducks Unlimited since 1988.

Louise Chauvet, CA

After receiving a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 1988 and articling in Saskatoon, Louise earned her CA in 1992. In 1993, she went to work as Chief Financial Officer in the healthcare sector. She spent eight years in that capacity, married and started a family before joining KBH in February of 2001.

In 2006, after spending five years with the firm on a part-time basis, Louise became a partner. She offers clients-especially entrepreneurs in a range of industries-extensive experience and knowledge of both the public and private sectors. When she is not assisting with accounting, tax and general business needs for our clients, Louise enjoys camping, hiking, music and spending time with her husband and three daughters.

Mohini Kumar, CA

In 1994, Mohini joined Kouri Berezan Heinrichs as our first articling student; 12 years later, she became a partner. Her educational background includes completion of a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Alberta in 1994 and earning her CA in 1996.

Married with two lovely children, Mohini is in charge of quality control at KBH and is our final review partner. Since September of 2005, she has also acted as a seminar leader at her alma mater.

Karen Masuda-Pfliger, CA

Karen was born and raised in Edmonton, and she joined our team in the fall of 2000. She graduated from the U of A in 1997 with a Bachelor of Commerce and received her CA in 2000. She became a partner in 2007. She enjoys bike riding and cross country skiing. Karen was married in October 2005.

Shabir Ladha, CA

Shabir graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Victoria in 1999. He received his CA in 2001 and became a partner in 2007 after having articled with KBH. Shabir is from Vancouver but claims to love Edmonton winters. He is married and is the proud father of two little girls. Shabir enjoys reading, volleyball and investing in the stock market in his spare time.

Chireen Chick, CA

Chireen joined the firm in October 2002, having worked previously with a smaller firm in Central Alberta. She received her Bachelor of Management from the University of Lethbridge in May 1999 and her CA designation in 2000 and was admitted to partnership in 2008. Chireen was married in October 2003. She enjoys traveling and spending time with family.
